The CSAE Environment & Innovation Commission met on May 20, 2026. Beyond the launch of the annual environmental data collection from sector stakeholders, the commission is initiating several new collective projects.

The Environment & Innovation Commission meeting first officially launched the 2025 environmental data collection campaign. We invite all companies in the sector, whether members of the CSAE or not, to contribute through our contact form.

We are counting on everyone’s mobilisation. The number and diversity of contributing companies are key to the accuracy of the data collected, as well as to ensuring the sector’s involvement in environmental and innovation issues.

The report is scheduled for publication in the third quarter of 2026!

A campaign expanded to new indicators

The commission has approved the integration of new tracking indicators: recycling of uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE-EPI), end-of-life battery disposal, treatment of decommissioned vehicles and maintenance waste management. These topics, which have not been well documented at the sector level to date, will be subject to structured monitoring.

Uniform recycling: a working group is being formed

In parallel, the commission has decided to establish a dedicated working group on the recycling of uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE-EPI).

Indeed, given the significant volumes generated by companies in the sector, the commission wishes to explore solutions to reduce environmental impacts: reuse, upcycling, mechanical recycling, and use as insulation.

The objective is to identify the most suitable solutions given members’ constraints: cost, large-scale feasibility and CSR value.

Reducing the impact of commuting

Finally, the commission has decided to undertake an in-depth study on the commuting of ground handling staff.

In practice, these journeys, largely made by private car, represent the most significant environmental impact for companies in the sector within the scope 3 boundary: indirect emissions generated by upstream and downstream activities across the value chain.

For this reflection, the commission intends to build on proven concrete solutions such as carpooling, soft mobility, particularly cycling, or dedicated shuttle services.
