As a source of inspiration, sharing experiences and testifying to the wealth of professions and career paths in ground handling, we give the floor to the players in our sector.
Today we meet Patricia Favret, who has been working in the airline industry since 1999. After spending 13 years in the Cargo business, she joined Ground Handling and, since 2017, has been Group Human Resources Director at Alyzia.
Patricia is particularly committed to preserving the invaluable skills of our professions by encouraging the transfer of knowledge between generations.
Expertise matters
“The sector in which we operate is subject to precise, strict standards in order to guarantee the safety and security of passengers.
So it’s vital to instil the right basics, the right reflexes, to explain what’s at stake and the working environment.”
Sharing expertise
“We need to build bridges and pass on know-how from the most experienced employees to newcomers.
As a human resources manager, it’s important to be able to identify and detect employees who have the desire to pass on their skills and the willingness to support new employees joining the company.”
Expertise mentoring
“The employees who volunteer in this way become trainers/tutors and provide on-the-job support to new employees, enabling knowledge to be transferred to them in real-life situations.“
How do newcomers react?
“We find that experts in their field are respected, legitimate and fully accepted by new employees.“
What is the key to a successful handover?
“It’s a two-way exchange. The older generation pass on their business skills and company culture, while the younger generation, who are more at ease with new technologies, explain their uses and purposes.
So there is complementarity in human relationships, not opposition.
And the company safeguards its most precious asset: its know-how.”
