Faced with an upsurge in aggressive passengers at airports, and in particular towards ground handling agents, the Chambre Syndicale de l’Assistance en Escale (CSAE) and the Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile (DGAC) have decided to quantify and qualify all incidents occurring in French airports.

Theaim is simple: to better identify these incidents so that everything can be done to avoid them.

In practical terms, a register will make it possible to keep a precise record of each event, indicating the nature of the incidents, the airport and airport area concerned, as well as the activity and the company affected.

There are 4 levels of severity:

  • Insults
  • Threats
  • Damage to equipment
  • Physical assault

Combating aggressive behaviour at airports is a major challenge. As well as anticipating in-flight risks – a violent passenger on the ground is often also violent in-flight – it helps to improve the safety of passengers, those accompanying them and airport staff, and to guarantee a calm and peaceful environment for everyone.
