Faced with the growing challenges of airside safety, the air transport industry has joined forces to create a common set of skills requirements: the CSCE (Connaissances pour la Sécurité et la Conduite des Engins) system.
Drawn up from January 2024 by a group of experts including air carriers, airport handling service providers, aerodrome operators and training companies, these standards, updated under the aegis of the Fédération nationale de l’aviation et de ses métiers (FNAM), are designed to improve safety at work and aircraft ground operations.
The CSCE defines a core of essential knowledge and practices for all airport equipment operators, with a dual objective:
- Preventing occupational risks and accidents when working together
- Guarantee a high level of common skills, recognised by employers and compatible with international standards
This flexible standards framework allows companies to freely adapt their means of compliance, while ensuring uniform application of safety requirements. This is a major step forward in promoting the mutual recognition of skills and facilitating relations between employers and contractors.
Since the beginning of this initiative, airport ramp safety has been strengthened as companies have adopted the standards and made a collective commitment to their implementation.
Next CSCE Committee meeting: 20 May 2025
The following will be represented: Aéroports de Rennes, IFMA – GEH, Groupe 3S – Alyzia, Aéroport de Caen, Air France, Samsic APMR, TCR, Servair, Camas – APAVE, FedEx, Fuelling Aviation Service, Ladybird, UAF, FNAM and CSAE.
