On Tuesday 10 June, the FNAM and UAF unveiled a ground-breaking survey that shakes up preconceived ideas about air transport in France.

Conducted by SIA Partners and IFOP, this opinion poll reveals two major facts: the aeroplane has been democratised and its social utility is stronger than ever.

Of the 65% of French people who fly, nearly half are under 35, and employees are now the leading socio-professional category on board, up 7 points in 8 years.

Beyond profiles, uses are also evolving

While holidays remain a classic (48% of journeys), trips for family and friends are exploding (+46% since 2016).

Mobility that is chosen, but also reasoned, because the French say they are prepared to adapt their behaviour to limit their impact: only fly to far-flung destinations (79%), favour more environmentally-friendly airlines (75%).

The backdrop to this is strong confidence in the sector’s ecological transition (70% believe in gradual decarbonisation) and strong support for its strategic role in employment, regional cohesion and national sovereignty.

A clear message from the players in the sector: stop taking shortcuts, flying is not a luxury, it’s a vital link.

Every time a line is cut, an area is isolated “, said UAF President Thomas Juin.
