The Chambre Syndicale de l’Assistance en Escale (CSAE) currently comprises 140 companies and groups dedicated to providing services to airlines, airports and passengers at national airports.
In France, CSAE is the leading employer of ground staff in the airport sector. At the end of 2022, this represented more than 20,000 employees on permanent and fixed-term contracts throughout France, including the French Overseas Departments and Regions (DROM). In addition, seasonal employees are recruited, particularly during holiday periods.
A sharp rise in the number of jobs, with a 40% increase in employees on permanent and fixed-term contracts between 2018 and 2022.
The member companies have a wide range of expertise and activities. They meet both traditional needs (handling aircraft on the ground, baggage management, passenger check-in, cargo balancing, aircraft catering, freight, etc.) and new expectations (assistance for disabled passengers, managing queues at security, baggage disputes, etc.).
CSAE is a member of the Fédération Nationale de l’Aviation et de ses Métiers (FNAM) and ranks as the second largest trade union chamber within the FNAM. Because of the number of ground staff it represents, CSAE also chairs the FNAM’s Social Commission.
The CSAE also participates in the Economic Consultative Commissions of Paris Aéroports, in the Conseil Supérieur de l’Aviation Civile and is active in the Union des Aéroports Français.
